Igor Lebedev, PhD

Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Igor Lebedev began his musical training at age eight and made his orchestral debut when he was nine. He received his Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees from the St. Petersburg State Conservatory, where he studied with the distinguished Russian pianist, Professor Pavel Serebriakov. Since then, Mr. Lebedev has performed extensively in the former Soviet Union, USA, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Portugal, Netherlands, South Korea, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and Turkey.

Lebedev's performance career has been paralleled by his deep commitment to teaching. Since 1977 he has been on the faculty of the St. Petersburg Conservatory and served as a Dean of the Piano Department from 1985 To 1996.

Dr. Lebedev has been invited to teach in Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Finland, USA, Bulgaria, and Turkey and South Korea. He has served on piano juries of several international piano competitions, including Citta di Senigallia (Italy), Serebriakov International Piano Competition (Russia), and Rachmaninoff Young Artist International Piano Competition (Russia).

Recently Dr. I. Lebedev serves as a Vice Principal of St. Petersburg Conservatory.
